Carissa and Jon met years and years ago as their families attended the same church growing up. Their is a small age gap between the two of them and that gap only feels bigger when you’re a little kid. Soon, the age difference meant nothing and groups of friends started to hang out together. Carissa writes they started dating in April 2010, when she was eighteen years old, after a few years of “complicated” friendship.
These two were married on Saturday, October 19th at the Coast Hotel & Convention Centre in Langley. (Gotta love a 10 minute wedding commute for me! Usually it’s close to a full hour every weekend. Yay Langley!) They celebrated with 250 guests for both the ceremony and reception (such a big crowd! but so fun) and their day was centred around two things: Carissa & Jon’s care and love for one another and Jesus’ love for them.
A few of my favourite things from their wedding day included, in no particular order. 1. Carissa’s smiley face, all day long. (Seriously, the photos are proof.) 2. Jon’s face when he saw his bride walking down the aisle. 3. Jon and Carissa’s first kiss. Like ever. First kiss ever in 3.5 years of dating. And I got to capture it on my camera, such a sweet moment. 4. Their bridal party – so so fun! I told them they were one of the best bridal parties of the year and a groomsmen said, “I bet you say that to everyone.” No. My assistant Candace can attest! They were amazing. 5. The surprise dance some of the bridal party performed for Carissa and Jon at the end of the evening. It was so cool.
Congratulations, you two! I wish you all the best.
