A family session with Jamie Delaine typically delivers 80–100 edited images in your finished gallery.
How long is a family photo session?
My Vancouver family photo sessions are about 1 hour long, which gives us time to get relaxed, natural moments without tiring out little ones.
Can Jamie Delaine help us choose a location for our family photos in Vancouver?
Absolutely! I photograph family sessions all across Metro Vancouver, and after 16 years I have favourite locations, especially within the City of Vancouver, that I'd love to recommend. Get in touch and we'll find the right spot for your family.
What time of day is best for family photos in Vancouver?
For outdoor family sessions in Vancouver, the best light is in the couple of hours before sunset or the couple of hours after sunrise. If you're having an at-home family session, any time during the day works beautifully.
How long does it take to get our family photos back?
Jamie Delaine delivers your gallery of edited images within 14 days of your session. Once it arrives, you have full access to download, print, share and enjoy your photos!
How far in advance should we book a family photo session with Jamie Delaine?
Book 4–12 weeks ahead, since that's how far out my Vancouver portrait sessions typically fill. I recommend getting in touch as soon as possible so you don't miss the dates you want.
What happens if it rains on our Vancouver family photo session?
If heavy rain is in the forecast, I may reschedule your session with 24 hours' notice. Vancouver weather is hard to predict, and rain in the forecast often turns into lovely overcast light by the time the session begins. For light rain, we may switch to a Plan B location, or bring out my clear umbrellas for some beautiful rainy-day shots!
What should we wear for our family photos?
Start with one person's outfit, usually the mom's or a daughter's, then build a palette of 2 or 3 colours around it. Add neutrals like cream, tan, grey or denim to tie everyone together! A dress or skirt adds lovely movement, but a blouse and jeans work well too. For ideas, search "family photo outfit inspiration" on Pinterest.
Will you help us with posing, even if our kids won't look at the camera?
Absolutely! I'll guide you through easy poses throughout your session, so you don't need to know how to pose before you arrive. If the kids get distracted, have the adults keep looking at my camera and let me (or my assistant) call the kids' names. Kids do much better with one voice asking, and you'll all be ready the moment they look up.
Can we include extended family or pets in our family photos?
Absolutely! I love photographing extended families and pets as part of a Vancouver family session.
